Lake Monitoring Data

The Mooney Lake Association is partnering with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District in monitoring lake water quality. We measure 1) clarity of the water (secchi disk), 2) Phosphorous (nutrient levels), 3) chlorophyll (Algae), 4) Chloride (Road salt), and 5) oxygen levels in the winter months. 1,2,3 are collected May through September by volunteers, and the data that is collected is used to determine the lakes trophic state index. The standard limit for a shallow lake is 57. Anything above that number is considered impaired.
